Jairo Arcila: Innovation Rooted in Colombia's Coffee Tradition

In the rolling hills of Quindío, Colombia, coffee producer Jairo Arcila has earned an international reputation for crafting some of the country's most distinctive specialty coffees. A third-generation coffee farmer, Arcila combines decades of experience with a willingness to embrace innovation, producing coffees that are prized by specialty roasters around the world.

Jairo purchased his first farm, Finca La Esmeralda, in 1987 while working as a mill manager for one of Colombia's largest coffee exporters. Over time, he expanded his operation to include several farms, including Finca Santa Mónica, where many of his award-winning microlots are produced. Today, his farms cultivate both traditional and rare coffee varieties such as Pink Bourbon, Gesha, Java, and Papayo.

Working alongside his wife, Luz Helena Salazar, and with the support of his sons Carlos and Felipe Arcila, founders of Cofinet, Jairo has become known for meticulous harvesting and innovative processing techniques. From carefully controlled washed coffees to experimental natural and co-fermented lots, his coffees consistently showcase vibrant fruit notes, floral aromas, and exceptional sweetness.

Beyond producing exceptional coffee, Jairo Arcila's farms contribute to the local economy by creating seasonal employment and promoting sustainable agriculture. His dedication to quality, family, and continuous improvement has made him one of Colombia's most respected specialty coffee producers and a leading ambassador for the country's world-class coffee heritage.
